The People You'll
Meet at OR Excellence

Bruce Bardall, BSN, MS, RN, CNOR, director of clinical operations at Physicians Endoscopy in Columbus, Ohio, is excited to return to OR Excellence, the friendly and informative conference that he says is unlike any other meeting he’s attended. Register today to meet Mr. Bardall and other top surgical leaders in Fort Lauderdale at the Harbor Beach Marriott & Spa.

Why he’s heading back to OR Excellence. I’m attracted to the variety of speakers and the programs that are being offered. I’m fanatic about conducting safety checks, performing time outs and making certain that everything's in place to protect patients, so I’m particularly interested in learning about the role clinical leaders play in patient safety. (Editor’s note: William Duffy, RN, MJ, CNOR, FAAN, of Loyola University’s Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing in Chicago will discuss that topic on the conference’s second day.).

On what makes OR Excellence unique. The aha moment for me occurred when I saw that the talks weren’t focused solely on clinical and management topics. There’s plenty of that kind of advice, but the speakers shared their life experiences and based their talks on what really occurs in their facilities. I appreciated that real-world sensibility because so often you feel like you’re the only one who’s dealing with certain issues. After you hear from the speakers at OR Excellence, you realize we’re all in the same boat.

On the conference’s intimate feel. It's not a small conference, but it’s also not enormous like some other meetings where I’ve felt overwhelmed by the size. At OR Excellence, you don’t feel rushed when talking with vendors in the exhibit hall. You can have nice conversations and take the time to learn about their products and what their companies offer. The intimacy of the conference also lets you network with other leaders who are facing the same challenges you are. I’ve been active in the Ohio ASC Association and ran into several people from there at the last OR Excellence I attended. It was fun to reconnect and catch up.

On the conference’s program. The meeting does an outstanding job of including diverse speakers and offering broad topics to help you develop not only professionally, but also personally. After attending, you’ll have the tools you need to become a better leader and a better healthcare provider. I’ve spent a lot of time in South Florida and look forward to heading back, but, to be honest, the location isn’t what enticed me to attend. It was all about the educational opportunities.

You are going to LOVE this meeting!
